Song in the Bone: Sounds Lost and Found is a collection of drawings, paintings, and odd instruments that explore our connections to the world through sound and touch.  These images explore sound as a connective fabric, perhaps a more physical reality than what is recorded or perceived in our visual world.

Throughout this year, Sarah Valeri has explored both remembered sensations of sound, possible notation, and patterned suggestion of vibration, wondering how others will respond to works that are created narratively or via intuitive sensation. What sensations/transmissions/chain reactions move through these different translations?

Guests will also be allowed to interact with the created instruments that will make sound according to their form, the humidity, their durability, your touch and breath with absolute disregard to western octaves or your preferences.

The NYSS Project Space is generously donated to the New York Studio School by Two Trees Management. Recently graduated students of the school are eligible for a year long residency that supports professional development through independent projects.
